Markus Kraeuchi Chief Technology Officer & CTOO EMEA

Markus was appointed interim CTOO for iptiQ in July 2022 in addition to his current role as tech lead APAC, which he has held since July 2021. He will continue to lead the IT transformation in Asia, focusing on China. He is currently based in Hong Kong and will move to Switzerland in October.

Markus led the Life & System Transformation programme from 2008 to 2021 in various CIO roles for Life & Health in assembling, directing and guiding distributed teams in the Americas, Europe and Asia while working in partnership with multiple business divisions to drive process improvement and reduce complexity.

Markus has a history of transforming businesses through digital solutions and systems, including multi-cloud, machine learning, analytics, cognitive computing, IoT and process standardisation and automation, as well as managing budgets of over 100 million USD and many external partners (> 500 people) to drive overall delivery of products against time/budget targets.

From 2002 to 2008, he was based in Hong Kong as the head of information technology and a member of Executive Team Asia, overseeing infrastructure and business support service to 11 locations in the region.

Before joining Swiss Re, he began his reinsurance career at Union Re in finance, technical accounting and reinsurance administration. After overseeing many successful system implementations, he was appointed head of IT. With the merger of Union Re into Swiss Re in 1998, he was offered the opportunity to build up and strengthen the IT organisations dealing in the Far East. Prior to that opportunity, he worked in manufacturing and trade.
